Bike to Work Day

Morgantown Bicycle Board is sponsoring a Bike to Work Day this Friday, May 15, at 8:15am. Invite your friends! Riders will meet at Hazel Ruby McQuain Park for coffee and treats provided by The Grind beginning at 8:15am. Free beer coupons from Black Bear will be provided to the first 25 riders, and all can enter to win a $25 gift card from Real Juice. You are invited to ride with Mayor Selin towards Star City on the trail at 8:30 am. All are welcome! Attached: photo from last year's event. -Jonathan

Spin with CRC & Lynn at GHF & BOD

In just under two weeks on May 24, Memorial Day Weekend, we will be spinning again with Country Road Cyclists like we did last year! Everyone is invited. Beginning at Positive Spin, we will join Country Roads Cyclists (CRC) for a ride up the Deckers Creek Trail to Masontown (milepost 13), then return to Positive Spin. Keep in mind that you can ride whatever distance you want, that is one of the nice aspects about group trail rides. Then we will have an informal potluck picnic at Positive Spin about 4:30pm. Please bring a dish to share, or food can be purchased in Sabraton. A grill will be available. Lynn Clough represented us this year at the Green Team's Green Households Fair at the Farmer's Market, April 18. Attached is a photo of her at that event. Thank-you, Lynn! I want to remind everyone, that there is a Board Meeting, today, Monday, at 7:30pm at the Spin. If you are interested in attending, and have not already spoken to me, please contact me by email so I can print out enough material for the meeting. Our board was awarded Volunteer of the Year at Morgantown's 2014 Celebration of America, and our Annual Meeting is coming soon, June 28. Interested in serving? The next two months will be an important time for Positive Spin. This year marks our *10th year anniversary*, and we will be preparing for our Celebration and Annual Meeting on Sunday, June 28th. Volunteers wanted for Rail Trail events

Mon River Trails Conservancy is looking for volunteers for two upcoming events they are sponsoring which are listed below, which includes the first ever Rails-to-Trails Sojourn <http://www.railstotrails.org/experience-trails/rail-trail-sojourns/> event in our area. The 2015 sojourn in West Virginia will center on the city of Morgantown, home to West Virginia University and the burgeoning Mon River Trails system, 48 miles of rail-trail in the north central part of the state, connecting Marion, Monongalia and Preston counties. During the Sojourn, there will be many bicyclists visiting, and we will be doing our part in making them feel welcome to our amazing state by providing bicycle event racks, and by allowing visitors to freely use our tools at our Community Bike Shop on April 24 and 25. *SPRING TRASH BASH- Point Marion, PA* *Saturday April 18* Along the Sheepskin Trail and Road along Cheat River Meet 9AM at Point Marion Park Contact: Vicky Evans at victoriaevans109(a)gmail.com <mailto:victoriaevans109@gmail.com> with questions or RSVP RSVP not required but appreciated *Sojourn Volunteers still needed on Saturday, April 25* I would like one person on the north end of the bridge across the Cheat River from 10:15 am to 11:30 am. Greeters

I would like to invite you to consider serving as a Greeter at the front of Positive Spin even if for only 1 hour at a time during one of our weekly openings. Currently, Fridays and Saturday, 1-5pm with Saturdays generally being our busiest days. Greeters serve a critical role in making people feel welcome to our Community Bike Shop, answering questions, helping with transactions, and keeping exacting records. We now have a new computerized system that was developed over the Winter by one of our volunteers, and which already is taking our organization to a new level. If you love interacting with people, you will really enjoy being a Greeter. Contact me if you are interested, have more questions, or alternatively just come down to the Spin. -Jonathan

Help needed for Green Households Fair April 18

Last year we were invited to set-up a demonstration at the last indoor Farmers Market of the year for a new event sponsored by Morgantown's Green Team called the Green Households Fair. They liked us so much that we have been invited again for this year's event on Saturday, April 18, 11am-1pm at the Wesley United Methodist Church . Unlike last year, we will have a table indoors which will give us even better exposure to the public. I will not be able to take a lead this year so if you are interested in organizing this on behalf of Positive Spin, please contact me. We do have bicycle generator systems, so one possibility could be making green drinks in an attached blender. I hope this interests someone with a little electric understanding because the systems have not been used in a long time, and appear to need some work. Another demonstration possibility could be showing people how to bicycle repair tubes. -Jonathan
