Despite high heat and humidity, 18 people rode this Sunday, and everyone reached the destination turnaround point in Point Marion, PA. A few of the participants were inspired to extend the ride to the Lake Lynn hydroelectric power plant. Next ride - August 30. -Jonathan

2 events this weekend - Spin with CRC & Kids Day

Eventful weekend for Positive Spin!: On Sunday, 1pm, we will bike again on another famous Spin with CRC ride, but instead of heading up Deckers Creek trail, our destination turnaround point will be Point Marion. This will be a completely flat ride! Keep in mind that you can ride whatever distance you want, that is one of the nice aspects about group trail rides. We will have an informal potluck picnic at Positive Spin about 4:30pm. Please bring a dish to share, or food can be purchased in Sabraton. A grill will be available. On Saturday, 10am-2pm, we will be back at MedExpress Kids Day with bicycle presentations, proper helmet wearing, bike repair demonstrations, and pedal powered demonstrations possibly involving smoothies. Please visit us at our tent booth, and feel free to help out by joining along with other volunteers. -Jonathan PS - Next Spin with CRC will be August 30.

New shop opening!

Even as New Horizons spins towards its historic rendezvous with Pluto, history was made at Positive Spin during our Monday board meeting. We have added another shop opening on Sundays with hours currently running from 1-5pm. -Jonathan

Board Member Nominations

Greetings Positive Spinians- As many of you may know Positive Spin is preparing for its first ever Annual Meeting on June 28, 2015. During this meeting we will be voting on our board of directors. All nine seats will be up for renewal and we are now seeking nominations for those seats. While Positive Spin would like to get the most involvement out of its board of directors as possible, the time commitment is minimal with one monthly 2-hour meeting for approximately 9 months. While no experience is required, and we highly encourageall dedicated people**to submit their names for nomination, we especially would like to encourage those with a professional or advanced degrees e.g. attorneys, CPAs, MBAs, etc. If you have a candidate in mind or if you would like to sit on Positives Spin's board, please contact me at your earliest convenience. All seated board members wishing to seek another term should also submit their name. Additionally if you are not considering a run for a seat on the board, the nominating committee could use some help recruiting board members, please contact me with regards to this matter as well. Todd May First Responders Fair - Kids Helmet Giveaway* - Volunteer helmet fitters needed for Saturday, May 30, between 10am - 4pm at the University Towne Centre in the Walmart parking lot! Learn how to fit a helmet properly by watching this video <http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=dKo791h2hfE&t=166> produced by Positive Spin. Contact me if you want to participate for any length of time. Like last year, I will be biking up to the event, so if you are interested in joining me for a fun morning hill climb, just ask. Good News: This is an awesome opportunity for the Spin because the sponsor, Farmer, Cline, and Campbell Law Office, donates the leftover helmets to Positive Spin assuming they end up with extra helmets. Last year we received a large box of mostly toddler helmets. *Please remember* if your child receives a new helmet at the fair, and your family has no more use for the previous helmet, kindly donate it to Positive Spin. * **Photo from Spin with CRC* - Attached is a photo from the beginning of the May 24 Memorial Weekend ride with CRC. This Sunday, May 24, Memorial Day Weekend, we will be spinning again with Country Road Cyclists like we did last year! Everyone is invited. Beginning at 1pm at Positive Spin, we will join Country Roads Cyclists (CRC) for a ride up the Deckers Creek Trail to Masontown (milepost 13), then return to Positive Spin. Keep in mind that you can ride whatever distance you want, that is one of the nice aspects about group trail rides. Then we will have an informal potluck picnic at Positive Spin about 4:30pm.
