Hello all! Positive Spin's 2nd Ladies Night is upon us! WTF (Women Trans and Femmes of all stripes welcome!) For now, we're going to host four Ladies' Night events a year. And our Winter date is right around the corner! Next Wednesday the 5th we will have a fix-a-flat workshop to make sure everyone gets a chance to patch and change a tube. Feel free to bring your own wheel or bike to practice on. Bikers of all experience levels welcome! Bring your questions, experience, wisdom, and even your bike. We can work on anything you want, but our starting point will be fixing a flat on the go. Katie Luckini will be teaching again. It is #GivingTuesday 2018 [1]! I am always amazed at the tremendous benefits which Positive Spin delivers to our community by getting more people on bikes more often, but while doing this all on a yearly budget far less than the cost of building just one parking place for a car. Volunteers in our shop play a pivotal role in making this happen, in fact, we have no paid staff. Volunteers repair the donated bikes which find a new life, volunteers help people find the right bikes and parts, volunteers provide consultation and help with repairs, and the list goes on! We can really use your financial help this year because we have a $1,500 funding deficit. The good news is that our funding is near the highest level of the last 6 years, but our operating expenses have gone up at our new location. Consider this, over the last 12 months in our shop, we have delivered $30,615 in value from volunteer hours, but our total expense was only $13,500. What this means is that for every dollar you donate to keep our doors open, you will generate more than $2.25 in value for the community! MATCHING FUNDS FOR GIVING TUESDAY BEGIN TODAY AT 8AM (Tuesday, Nov. 27) which means there is the possibility of doubling your donation, but even if the matching funds run out, the value of any donations we receive will continue to be significant to us, so thank-you ahead of time! Yes, we are open on Election Day. If you have not already voted, please VOTE today before visiting the Spin. The shop is open from 3pm - 10pm. There is a nice selection of bikes looking for new homes, and plenty of tasks for volunteers to perform. -Jonathan
