LWV Members,

The LWVMM has been invited by Mountain State Spotlight to co-sponsor “listening sessions” in Preston and Monongalia counties. For these events, residents are invited to come and discuss their concerns about local, state and national issues. (Locations and times for these events are at the end of this email.)

Mountain State Spotlight is an independent news organization that shares findings from investigative reporting through their newsletter, social media and website.

Previous listening events have been conducted in other WV counties. In 2024, Mountain State Spotlight teamed with the Huntington LWV to gather and report on the concerns of Cabell County residents.

In addition to facilitating Mountain State Spotlight’s “listening sessions,” the LWVMM will be providing education on how to contact Congress and the WV Legislature. Attendees will receive an easy-to-understand guide for contacting officials, with a talk from our LWVMM President, Judy Ball.

Many members from LWVMM have volunteered to help with the four scheduled sessions on August 8 and 9.  We also encourage all members to attend and add your voice to the upcoming report from Mountain State Spotlight!

Invite your friends and neighbors too.  LWVMM and Mountain State Spotlight want to hear from all voices.
