Bicycle Board Members,
FYI, today, I mailed the Bicycle Friendly Community Award application to 
the League of American Bicyclists.  Thanks to Don Spencer for getting 
the Mayor, Ron Justice; the City Manager, Dan Boroff; and the Executive 
Director Greater Morgantown Metropolitan Planning Organization, Chet 
Parsons to sign the transmittal letter.
We owe thanks to Don Spencer, Greg Good, Nick Hein and me for completing 
the preliminary application and then for getting input from Dan Boroff; 
Chet Parsons; Terry Hough, City Engineer; Phil Scott, Chief of Police 
and 3 of his officers; David Bruffy, Mountainline Director; Tom Arnold, 
Parking Authority Director; Ralph LaRue, BOPARC Assistant Director; 
Terri Cutright, Mainstreet Morgantown Director; and Stacey Brodak, 
Morgantown Convention and Visitors Bureau Director.  In getting their 
input, we also educated them about the criteria for a Bicycle Friendly 
Community and began to establish a shared vision for it.
Today, I also spoke with Bill Nesper, the leader of the LAB BFC 
program.  We missed the August submission date.  The next submission 
deadline is March 21, 2008.  Our application will be formally evaluated 
with that group.  We should expect results in April.   However, while 
the formal evaluations are completed by teams that will organize in 
March, Bill agreed to review our application earlier and provide 
preliminary feedback to reinforce our momentum.  He also said that he 
would discuss it with Andy Clarke, LAB Executive Director and Clarke may 
include some feedback as well. 
I also gave Jeff Mikorski, Assistant City Manager, the electronic files 
that make up the application and he's going to put it on the City's web 
site on the Bicycle Board page in the Document Archive if you want to 
refer to it in the future.
